The Miss Greenville America Pageant was conceived in 1978 at The Paddock Club.  Miss Greenville was created so that Greenville would have a city preliminary pageant to the Miss NC FFI Pageant which eventually became the Miss NC America Pageant.  The first Miss NC Pageant where Brandy Alexander was crowned was also held at The Paddock in 1979.  After that first year Miss NC was sold to Pageant Enterprises and moved to The Power Company in Durham, NC.  Some years later the state pageant was acquired by Von Entertainment and moved to The Scorpio Lounge in Charlotte for a number of years.  Miss NC briefly came back to Greenville for three years and now is back in Charlotte with Von Entertainment at The Scorpio Lounge, where the 30th anniversary pageant was held in the summer of 2008.

Even after Miss NC was sold, the award winning Miss Greenville America Pageant continued to be held every year at The Paddock Club.  The Paddock Club won the Melissa Montgomery Best City Preliminary award for 16 years for it's production of the Miss Greenville pageant.  The 25th Anniversary Miss Greenville CC Dupree was the last to be crowned at The Paddock in 2003.
